About Clay Architecture

We are an architectural firm based in the Medway area of Kent, with long-standing clients and a deep sense of place. Our clients often have difficult sites with complex and challenging briefs, which we love. And we’re tenacious, obsessed with innovation, viability and details. Our clients trust us to deliver.

As we grow Clay Architecture, we have a need for enthusiastic, like-minded, creative and pragmatic individuals with a passion for architecture.

We work on an eclectic mix of projects including:

  • A block of flats on the site of a former pub
  • Alterations and extensions to Grade II listed houses
  • Works to a Grade I listed church
  • The development of sustainable lifestyle house types
  • A sixth form centre
  • Refurbishment of an historic market hall

Why work for Clay Architecture

Clay Architecture is a small practice, so you’ll really get involved in everything, and be able to see through projects from start to finish.

Over the past 20 years, we have served as a ‘finishing school’ for young architects giving them valuable hands-on experience and training them to be well-rounded professionals before they move on to the next stage of their careers. Now we are looking for people who want to make their mark, take a stake in our practice’s future and help us grow.

If you need to relocate, Medway is a great place to live. You can easily access London, the Kent coast and the Continent via High Speed Rail to and from St Pancras. There are good schools, including some great grammars, and property is more affordable than in London and other parts of the South East.

Camilla and Kasan and their small team are based at a studio on the edge of the Great Lines Heritage Park in Gillingham. Being foodies at heart, one of the team can often be found in the studio kitchen rustling up something at lunchtime.

Great Lines Studios, a converted British Concrete Federation hut, sits in one of the few remaining intact historic military landscapes in England. It was built for the RAF in the 1930s, serving as a military hospital and 1039 (Gillingham) Squadron Air Training Corps HQ.

Clay Architecture passionately believes in the importance of a good work-life balance and we welcome applications from people looking for part-time employment. Clay Architecture is an equal opportunity employer.

Send us a detailed CV and portfolio demonstrating your range of skills and experience to design@clayarchitecture.com

You will be asked to complete tests and a standard questionnaire. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview.
